Your Guide to Surfing in The Mamanuca Islands

Cloudbreak: The most famous surf break in Fiji, Cloudbreak is about 3 miles south of Namotu Island. For experienced surfers only. Many island hoppers add Cloudbreak to their itinerary and watch the surfers from their boats. The World Surf League Fiji holds many of it’s competitions here.

Restaurants: In front of the restaurant of Tavarua Island Resort, Restaurants is suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers. Avoid surfing here at low tide as there is shallow coral reef.

Namotu Lefts: Less intimidating than Cloudbreak and Restaurants, Namotu Lefts is near Namotu Island Resort. The waves here typically get between 6 to 15 feet (2-5 meters). Namotu Lefts’ ability level is considered intermediate.

Wilkes Passage: Located northwest of Namotu Island, Wilkes Passage is an intermediate level surf break that can produce powerful waves.

Tavarua Rights: Tucked away on the island’s far side, it's a fun, playful spot — but when the swell picks up, it becomes a challenging.

Swimming Pools: Near Namotu Island, Swimming Pools is a fun break that is suitable for all surfing styles and boards. Best for beginner-intermediate levels.
